The Mathematics of Power
VLC (Virtual Land Count)
A proprietary metric that calculates the "True" mana base consistency of a deck. It weights non-land mana sources based on their reliability, speed, and vulnerability.
- L : Raw Land Count
- M : Modal Dual Faced Cards (weighted 0.8)
- R : Fast Ramp (CMC ≤ 2, e.g., Signets, Sol Ring)
- D : Efficient Card Draw engines (weighted 0.25)
PLI (Power Level Index)
The PLI (0-100) is a comparative ranking score derived from competitive meta-analysis. It uses a base score derived from the VLC, then applies multipliers for "Game Changers".
The engine applies exponential weight to Fast Mana (Crypts/Moxen), Free Interaction (Force of Will), and Compact Win Conditions (Thoracle/Breach).
Optimization Logic (Cuts & Adds)
The "Surgical" engine does not simply cut expensive cards. It uses a Safety-First Heuristic Algorithm to ensure key strategies are preserved while trimming "dead weight."
1. Combo Protection
The engine scans Oracle text for phrases like "Win the game", "Extra turn", and infinite combo enablers. These cards are granted immunity from cuts, regardless of CMC.
2. Financial Weighting
The algorithm assumes that if you included a card worth >$10.00, it is likely crucial. High-value cards receive a score reduction in the "Cut Candidate" calculation.
3. Live Meta Data
Suggestions are not static. The app connects live to the Scryfall API to fetch the Top 50 EDHREC Staples that match your Commander's specific color identity.
